Protective Packaging Solutions acquires Alpha Packaging

The acquisition establishes the Cincinnati-based company as one of the region's largest converters of protective packaging products.

Protective Packaging Solutions (PPS) has announced the acquisition of assets of Alpha Packaging of Cincinnati, Ohio during a recent auction. The acquisition establishes Protective Packaging Solutions as one of the region’s largest converters of protective packaging products.

“This acquisition is a great opportunity to revitalize the former Alpha Packaging,” said Michael Edlin, president and CEO of Protective Packing Solutions. “We were able to accomplish this transaction without adding any long-term debt to the business, which has allowed us to infuse PPS with critical cash to accelerate its growth.”

PPS was also able to retain key staff members to ensure a smooth transition. Dave Rettig will become general manager, Cindy Garrett will continue in her role as operations manager and Rich Hacker will remain as manager of design.

“We have established relationships with all key vendors and brought in over $200,000 in new inventory and equipment to support our ramp up,” noted Tom McNamara, PPS’s Chairman of the Board. “All of the plant’s production equipment has been updated as well to ensure we are the low-cost producer in this market.”

“As owners, we are now in a position to reinvest all profits back into this business, and we expect PPS to expand rapidly as the economy rebounds,” said Edlin.
