Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center opens Motoman robot laboratory

Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) recently announced the opening of the Motoman Robot Laboratory at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center (SICTC).

Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) recently announced the opening of the Motoman Robot Laboratory at the Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center (SICTC). The center received an advanced manufacturing grant this year, allowing it to purchase eight HP3JC robots with NXC100 controllers. The robotics program is one of several new programs SICTC has started in order to better prepare students for careers in post-secondary education related to manufacturing.

SICTC’s new Motoman Robot Laboratory will equip students with the skills needed to support advanced manufacturing in the southern Indiana region.

The EVSC serves an average of approximately 3,000 students each year through career and technical programs offered at the Southern Indiana Career & Technical Center and individual high schools. Teachers often have personal occupational experience in the content they teach and combine real world experience with “hands-on” curriculum to provide students excellent learning opportunities. Career and Technical Education programs also have business advisory committees which enable teachers and business/industry representatives to work together to develop curricula, promote area with workforce development and identify equipment needs.
