Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America gears up for Manufacturing Day

Drive and gear manufacturer to welcome scholarship recipients for facility tour and luncheon.

Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA), part of Sumitomo Drive Technologies, will celebrate Manufacturing Day across its facilities.

Specifically, at the Chesapeake, Va., headquarters, scholarship recipients and their families will join SMA on Friday, October 7, 2016 for a special luncheon and facility tour.

The students will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals and a variety of team members. Community members will also be present to congratulate the students on their success and welcome them into the manufacturing industry.

With manufacturing supporting over 17.6 million jobs across the United States, SMA feels it is important to show students and young professionals the wide expanse of possibilities. Students can be engineers, machinists, welders, assemblers, computer programmers, or team leaders within the manufacturing industry.

SMA offers hands-on experience, apprenticeships, and associate’s degrees for manufacturing programs through Tidewater Community College (TCC).
