Swisslog wins award from Design-Build Institute of America

Swisslog employee wins National Award of Merit for contributions to a cold storage distribution center.

Randy Jennings, director of food and beverage sales at Swisslog Logistics, Americas, has been identified as an integral part of the Primus and United States Cold Storage Distribution Team, winning a National Award of Merit.

The Design-Build Institute of America selected the team for this award in the category of process and/or research facilities. Jennings was a key member of the project team designing and building the United States Cold Storage Distribution Center in Covington, Tenn.

Lisa Washington, CEO of the Design-Build Institute, said, “The important role of effective team performance as a best practice in design-build project delivery cannot be emphasized enough. Based on the award submission, it is clear that the teaming partners were carefully selected. All players, including the owner, engaged and collaboratively interacted throughout the design and construction phases. This type of team performance exemplifies Design-Build Done Right, raising the bar for our industry even higher.”

All National Awards of Merit winners are also being considered for one of three Awards of Excellence in the areas of design, process and teaming. An awards ceremony will be held November 3rd at the Design-Build Conference and Expo in Denver, Co., where the winners will be announced.

“I am honored to be on the team that has received such a prestigious award for this project,” Jennings said. “Working with the professional teams at Unilever, United States Cold Storage and Primus Builders is immensely rewarding.”

Matt Hirsch, President of Primus Builders, said, “Swisslog’s extensive automation experiences in temperature controlled facilities proved very valuable in the completion of the project at this site.”
