Toyota Industries Corporation to acquire the forklift business of Tailift

Serving primarily China and Taiwan, Tailift produces 28,000 forklifts annually.


Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO), parent company of Toyota Material Handling, USA, (TMHU), has entered into a definitive agreement under which TICO will acquire the forklift business of Tailift Co.

Operating mainly in Taiwan and China, Tailift is a Top 20 manufacturer of electric and internal combustion forklifts as well as industrial machine tools. Established in 1973, the company employs 1,000. Tailift’s forklift department has a production capacity of 28,000 forklifts per year.

The agreement was announced in September 2014 by TICO president Akira Onishi.

The Forklift Division of Tailift has manufacturing plants in Taiwan and China and has its strength in developing, manufacturing and selling forklifts that are mainly targeted towards emerging markets.
