How to Measure for and Install Rack Safety Solutions

For facilities like yours, knowing how to properly measure for and install rack safety solutions is essential, because the ability to protect your stock, work areas, and employees is often a top concern.

With the right equipment, you can help to improve your business practices, making them safer and more efficient while also saving time and money.

Improperly secured goods can lead to accidents, injury, loss of revenue, and workers’ comp claims. You can minimize the risk by getting rid of inefficient measures and investing in correctly-fitted, high-quality straps and netting for your pallet racking.

And with our easy-to-install safety products, you’ll have a rack safety system that satisfies all regulations and helps protect your warehouse and employees set up in minutes — with no tools or fuss!

Before You Install Rack Safety Solutions

Assess Your Needs

Before taking any measurements, determine your current safety equipment needs and how those needs may change in the future. What type of measures do you have in place? Are they easy to implement, install, and utilize? Do they perform as well as you’d like? What is the ideal setup for your business? Looking toward the next three to five years, what pallet rack design changes do you anticipate implementing? These are questions you might want to consider beforehand.

Find the Best Fit

Top protection doesn’t mean just buying the best products on the market, but making sure they also work seamlessly with the equipment you already have in place. To measure racks for rack safety solutions, gauge the horizontal distance in inches between the posts on either end with a tape or laser measure.

Always keep the following in mind:

  • Make sure to take note of this measurement in inches and be as accurate as possible. A small difference in size can make a big impact in the ideal fit of your rack safety product.

  • While most manufacturers produce standard beams, the actual measurement of these beams can vary slightly.

  • To ensure the best fit, measure your racks and send us your exact dimensions. With a precise measurement, we can provide the best warehouse safety solution for you. While dimensions of your racks may be slightly larger or smaller than standard strap lengths, you’ll have an easier time finding the right fit without rounding. And, custom sizes can also be created to fit your specialized needs, with a minimum order quantity.

  • Check your uprights. Are they tear-drop, slotted, structural, or other type of anchor point? You can use this pallet rack type guide from our friends at SJF Material Handling for reference. We offer a standard T-shaped hardware connector that fits most rack types, and a J-hook connector that fits structural, Frazier, and Redi-Rack styles.

Adrian’s 2-inch wide polyester rack safety straps offer 2,400 lbs. burst strength in the following standard sizes:

  • 96 inches (8 feet)

  • 102 inches (8.5 feet)

  • 108 inches (9 feet)

  • 120 inches (10 feet)

  • 144 inches (12 feet)

  • 156 inches (13 feet)

Note: We design all straps and nets to allow for a 6″ overhang to prevent pallet push-through into the longitudinal flue space.

Know Your Options

The safety products you currently have may not be safeguarding your stored items as effectively as they could be. Knowing how to measure bay width and finding products that fit your pallet racking best is easy when you can choose from an array of high-quality, thoroughly-tested products. At Adrian’s, we offer innovative safety solutions that provide the durability and security you need to protect your merchandise, your employees, and your company’s reputation without complicated installations or high cost. Select from straps, fixed or sliding safety nets, and cables that will stop items from falling into the flue space, along with cargo nets for your transport vehicles.

How to Install Rack Safety Solutions
